iRobot develops automated robots for both the home and military use.

iRobot’s home robots are revolutionizing the way people clean – inside and out. More than 10 million home robots have been sold worldwide, with the award-winning iRobot Roomba floor vacuuming robot leading the charge.

iRobot’s combat-proven government and industrial robots perform multiple missions – on the land and in the water. More than 5,000 combat-proven government and industrial robots have been delivered to military and civil defense forces worldwide, performing thousands of dangerous search, reconnaissance and bomb-disposal missions while protecting those in harm’s way. iRobot's line of military robots also includes the iRobot FirstLook, a small, light, throwable robot for special operations, and the iRobot Warrior, a large robot that carries heavy payloads.

The company introduced and began shipping the Roomba 800 Series in late 2013. This next-generation floor vacuuming robot incorporates new dirt extractor technology which amplifies suction for superior performance over traditional bristle brushes. The Scooba 450, the company's newest wet floor scrubbing robot, began shipping in January 2014.

The company reported 2013 revenues of $487.4 million and net income of $27.6 million. The company shipped over 1,933,000 million robots for the home and 534,000 for defense and security for the year.

"2013 was a great year for iRobot. Our Home Robot business increased 20 percent over 2012, driven by growth in both domestic and overseas markets," said Colin Angle, chairman and chief executive officer of iRobot. "All three of our businesses met our expectations and made significant progress against their strategic plans, setting us up well for 2014.

iRobot’s corporate headquarters are located in Bedford, MA. The company also has offices in California, the United Kingdom, China and Hong Kong.

The company employs over 500 of the robot industry’s top professionals, including mechanical, electrical and software engineers and related support staff.

iRobot was founded in 1990 when Massachusetts Institute of Technology roboticists Colin Angle and Helen Greiner teamed up with their professor Dr. Rodney Brooks with the vision of making practical robots a reality.

The company went public on Nasdaq Stock Exchange in 2005.
