Founded in 1948, Brandeis is the only nonsectarian Jewish-sponsored college or university in the nation. It is located on 235 acres in the Boston suburb of Waltham. Brandeis has over 100 academic buildings.

The university is named after Louis Dembitz Brandeis, the distinguished associate justice of the United States Supreme Court.

Brandeis has 3,360 undergraduate students and 1,346 graduate students representing 46 states and 101 countries. Females make up 56% of the student body.

The university has an endowment of $400 million. There are 326 full-time faculty and 139 part-time.

The school has a 35% acceptance rate. Tuition for undergraduate students for 2011-12 school year is $40,514 per year. Room and board is an additional $10-12,000 per year. 70% of undergrads receive some form of financial aid.
